Bear Dens are for children in the third grade (or who are 9 years old). In a typical Bear Den, children will work on earning their Bear rank, which is the fourth rank in the Cub Scout program. The children will participate in a variety of activities designed to help them develop character, learn new skills, and have fun.
Some of the adventures that Bear Scouts might work on include:
"Bear Necessities": This adventure helps the children learn about personal fitness and healthy habits. The children will learn about the importance of exercise and healthy eating, and will set personal fitness goals.
"Fellowship and Duty to God": This adventure helps the children learn about spiritual growth and faith. The children will explore their own beliefs and values, and will learn about different ways to connect with a higher power.
"Grow Something": This adventure helps the children learn about the outdoors and the environment. The children will learn about different plants and how to care for them, and will participate in activities to help them appreciate and care for the natural world.
In addition to working on these adventures, Bear Scouts will also participate in den meetings and larger pack meetings, and may go on field trips and outings to learn about the world around them. The den leader will work with the children to plan and carry out these activities, and will help them track their progress and complete the requirements for earning their Bear rank.
